Internal room acoustics is in many respects the heart of IA’s focus. Our analysis reports are principally focused on optimizing the acoustics of critical spaces such as studios, home theaters and listening rooms, performance venues, houses of worship, and others. The tools used to achieve this are varied and generally fall into two categories: absorption and diffusion. Absorption encompasses mid and high frequency products and materials, bass products, and broadband absorbers. Used in the proper combinations, these can be applied to bring spectral balance to a space, while controlling reverberation characteristics. Diffusion products are designed to scatter reflections in such as way as to provide an open and immersive soundfield. Diffusion treatment has benefited from the introduction of a variety of innovative products, most notably from RPG, that provide a range of solutions for different frequency bands and at different price points.
